Impacted cerumen refers to a build-up of earwax (cerumen) in the ear canal that becomes hardened or stuck, potentially causing symptoms and blocking the ear. Earwax is normally protective—it traps dust and debris, has antibacterial properties, and helps clean the ear. But when it accumulates excessively or becomes impacted, it can cause issues.
Wax Removal using Micro-suction Procedure
The practitioner uses an Otoscope (a 12mm converged binocular optical system) to see inside the ear canal. Using the micro-suction apparatus, the wax is gently suctioned out of the ear canal until clear.
